What is the active form of CoQ10?

Joseph Esposito -

Active form of CoQ10

Patient asking about ubiquinol (Kaneka QH-TM) sold by Puritan's Pride and how it compares to Alignlife's COQ10 - the advertisement states "advanced, active form of Co Q10. Ordinary CoQ10 supplements must be converted in the body to Uniquinol to provide benefits...so by supplementing with Ubiquinol, you're saving your body a step and reaping healthful benefits righ away!"

The patient is right. The Ubiquinone is converted to Ubiquinol by the body and taking Ubiquionol will save the body one extra step. Kaneka has recenlty stabilized CoQ10 in the form of Ubiquinol and is the only supplier on the market. In early 2011, AlignLife reviewed the research and committed to using the Kaneka Ubiquinol in the new AlignLife CoQ10 that should hit the market in the second quarter of 2012.
